What is this content session all about?

It was an incredible day in the L’Oréal London Academy, designing techniques and colour mixology for L’Oréal Professionnel Paris for autumn/winter trends. I’ve worked on three looks, focusing on using iNOA, one of my favourite colour families. It’s really about celebrating copper as a colour, how versatile it is, and how you can make it look amazing on multiple hair types.

I’ve created looks on three different hair types, showcasing our Copper Contrast trend this season. There’s a soft copper, a multidimensional copper, and a copper that really celebrates coils and curls. This is to share amazing techniques that colourists can use in-salon, too. For one look, I’ve designed an upgrade to global colour, melting in multiple hues to create this mood ring effect on the hair. Then we have a look that's a little bit bolder, a hybrid between panelling and balayage. I’m so excited to really delve in and bring out the best in beautiful textured hair with the other look. We’re working through simple copper tones, but really warming up in areas to create gorgeous golden shades.

Talk to us about this new Copper Contrast trend…

Copper is a shade that every autumn/winter makes a reappearance, but there’s always something different about it. This Copper Contrast trend is nearly like these sage greens we’ve seen. It gives the colour finish an organic, earthy feel that’s in contrast to a louder red. This has a softness to it, and more of a true tone. With Copper Contrast, we’re committing to and celebrating the shade copper. You get this beautiful, earthy undertone that comes through.

What are your favourite iNOA shades to use this season?

As soon as you get to a level 7 and up, you’re going to get these beautiful, natural tones. I love calling them the Irish coppers, where it has that golden background. Here you want to look at 7.3, 7.4, 7.43 or your 8.34 or 8.4. They have more of a natural background, and you’re seeing shiny, natural, illuminated copper.

Give us an insider tip for colourists wanting to tap into this trend with clients…

Don’t over complicate things! You might be thinking, ‘how are we mixing this and adding in this?’. But this trend is celebrating iNOA and going back to basics. Let’s celebrate the classics, your 4.3 and 4.43, and utilise the portfolio to the best of its ability.

What is it about iNOA that you love so much?

It’s just so versatile! It has such a natural fade, so you get that maximum colour result, but then with the softest fade, so when a guest comes back into the salon, there’s no hard demarcation line. Where it’s slightly faded, a client is allowed to be a bit of a colour chameleon, they can start switching up their colours.

How good is iNOA for a salon’s bottom line?
