40 AND FABULOUS!

There’s no other way to describe Hennessy Hair & Beauty as they celebrate a milestone birthday in business

For 40 years Hennessy Hair & Beauty has been at the beating heart of professional hair & beauty supplies in Ireland, supporting businesses, creating jobs and enhancing economic growth.

The business was launched in 1984 by Patrick (Paddy) & Kathleen Hennessy who saw an opportunity in Cork to establish a hair cash & carry.

Hennessy has grown and evolved over the years, expanding their facilities, sales force, product offering and sales reach, to position them as one of the largest independent Irish-owned wholesalers.

Why are they so successful at what they do? It’s simple… From day one customer service was their priority and remains the company’s ethos today, guaranteeing an exceptional shopping experience every time. With many of their staff serving over 20 years they contribute knowledge and experience that you can trust.

Down through the years Hennessy continued to move with the times, introducing new brands, offering training centres and education and launching their website in 2010, hennessyhb.ie.

Family continues to be the driving force behind the business and undoubtedly a key reason for their success. Paddy has passed the reins to his daughter Susan and son-in-law Brian and they continue to instil the values on which Paddy developed the business.

As they celebrate this significant milestone, the future is bright, and there are more exciting times ahead. They want to take this opportunity to thank their wonderful loyal customers and staff, and hope to have many more successful years.

40 years of Hennessy Hair & Beauty

Kathleen and Paddy Hennessy

1984

Former sales rep Patrick (Paddy) Hennessy sees an opportunity for a hairdressing cash & carry business in Cork. Together with his wife Kathleen, he launches Hennessy Hair & Beauty, supplying salons across Munster. The business grows quickly and moves to their current premises on Pembroke Street where they also host training and education days – a unique service at that time.

2000s

In 2003 Hennessy Hair & Beauty buys their first warehouse, providing a spacious one-stop shop for all hairdressing needs. As the customer base grows, the business expands into beauty and extends their reach nationally with four reps.

2010

Hennessy moves with the times and launches an online shop, stocking the full range of products and offering a next-day delivery service. The company HQ also expands with the addition of a dedicated marketing team.

Brian and Susan McCarthy

2014

Having been mentored by Paddy since the age of 16, Susan McCarthy, daughter of Paddy and Kathleen, transitions into the role of managing director. Together with husband Brian, she continues to expand the business, with customer support and loyalty a priority.

2018

The warehouse is extended to facilitate a better shopping experience and to meet the demand for more top-quality product lines.

2023

A revamp of the cash & carry elevates the in-house shopping experience with improved display and brand marketing. It also becomes a Guaranteed Irish member, a national symbol of trust in business in Ireland.

2024
