THE CROWN JEWELS
THE SHOW – VAN CLEEF & ARPELS 2024
THE LEAD – STEPHEN BEAVER
Stephen Beaver crafted moments of elegance for the Van Cleef & Arpels 2024 show armed with a powerful
product line-up from AUTHENTIC BEAUTY CONCEPT. Taking inspiration from the pre-Raphaelites and Hamlet, Stephen used Ophelia as the main reference for his soft, textured hair looks. As well as long, loose, natural finishes with delicate fluffiness, the team also created a statement braided chignon, crafted with Amplify Mousse to enhance textured hair, rather than to create volume. The results were showcased at a gala dinner in the stately surroundings of the Painted Hall at the Old Royal Naval College, where ballerinas opened the evening before models took to the runway in dazzling diamonds.
THE SHOW – LABRUM LONDON S/S24
THE LEAD – JOHANNA CREE BROWN FOR INDOLA
Shortly after receiving The Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design, London-based imprint LABRUM returned to London Fashion Week communicating sentimental viewpoints of Black culture. Dubbed ‘Nomoli Odyssey’, the collection was imbued with LABRUM’s West African energy, and honoured Sierra Leone’s carved Nomoli figurines. Branch-like detailing popped from frayed shirting and cloaked headgear, while illustrative heads
were scribbled onto silk variations. Johanna Cree Brown interpreted the vision with stunning sculptural hair shapes. INDOLA Curl Cream was used on shorter hair looks to hydrate, elevating the hair for a more luxurious finish. The Strong Setting Mousse was used to prep and seal
all the braided looks, also giving hair additional support for creating sculptural shapes. Texture Rough Up was used on the edges of the hair to define and add a slight gloss. To
achieve a polished finish, Johanna used Glamorous Oil from INDOLA.
