ACCEPTABLE IN THE ‘80s
SAM MCKNIGHT
“Richard Quinn this season was a beautifully sculpted, shiny up-do. With a sharp and clean French pleat at the back, contoured to the head creating a small silhouette, the front was waved and flipped back, reminiscent of ’80s haute couture.”
MIDAS TOUCH
JOHANNA CREE BROWN
“My favourite look from this season’s LFW would have to be Mithridate for L’Oréal Professionnel Paris. I have worked with designer Demon Zhang on many shows and always look forward to her creativity and the thought process behind her collections. For this season, I used gold leaf to elevate the beauty of hair as a canvas, taking inspiration from the world of demons.”
DARK ROMANCE
ANTHONY TURNER
“Here I am backstage at Ann Demeulemeester, showing my team the look for the show before we really got going. I’m such a fan of Ann D!”
MAIN CHARACTER
RICHARD PHILLIPART
“My season highlight was the ABRA show using My Organics – it was the first Paris Fashion Week show for Team Phillipart and a milestone in my career. Each look was approached as a character study. Models were treated as individuals, with the beauty of their natural hair texture enhanced and celebrated.”

GET A GRIP
EUGENE SOULEIMAN
“My highlight was Junya Watanabe in Paris. He allowed me to experiment with the process of wrapping we do for wigs. We loaded the hair with grips at the back, in contrast to the sleek, shiny hair at the front, created with layers of Shu Uemura Art of Hair oil. There was a structure, but there was chaos inside the hairstyle.”
