THE PLACES

NEW SPACES, FRESH LOOKS AND LOCATIONS TO HELP YOU WORK BETTER

GRID STUDIOS, LONDON

Located in the heart of Old Street in London, this 100 sq m plus studio boasts 3.5m high ceilings and a courtyard for when you need a breath of fresh air. Specifically designed for hair and beauty content creators, it’s complete with six styling stations and a backwash unit that offers 360-degree access for filming. In the space, you will find everything you would expect to see in any top salon. There’s even a shower room perfect for capturing wet looks and products.

One of the standout features is the custom-built lighting system to ensure wherever you are in the space, the lighting and colour is spot on – even the lights in the mirrors change temperature. The 14m of south-facing windows deliver plenty of natural light, too. The idea is that you can simply turn up and shoot without the need to rent anything extra – there are multiple backdrops, materials, polyboards and A/V equipment. There’s also the in-house production team, Grid Productions, on hand. The studio comes from Danny Mendoza-Hall and Ben Ottewell, both with years of hair content creation under their belts, while Jordanna Cobella has been on board to ensure everything’s in place that a stylist could need.

ALTAIR, DERBY

From Arif Arikan, this space blends natural materials such as wood, metal and leather with ample natural light and a minimalist approach to decor for a relaxing welcome.

DUCK & DRY, CHELSEA

To celebrate its 10th birthday, the brand has refurbished its Chelsea location and introduced a colour bar called Duck & Dye, in collaboration with Backstage Beauty.
